The Harry Potter universe is not the only one in the process of expansion in the future of Warner Bros. (which we will know more about next week). The ‘Game of Thrones’ is about to expand again with a new prequel. This time it could be in movie form.
As Variety reports exclusively, HBO and Warner are preparing the production of a prequel that tells the story of Aegon the Conqueror and how he set out with his wives Visenya and Rhaenys and their respective dragons to conquer Westeros.
Aegon’s house
Specifically, they would take control of six of the seven kingdoms of the continent (with the exception of Dorne). In this way, A.egon I Targaryen would become the first to sit on the Iron Throne, founding the Targaryen Dynasty. This would place us about 300 years before ‘Game of Thrones’ and just over a century before the start of ‘The House of the Dragon’.
At the moment the project is in a preliminary phase, so it currently has neither scriptwriters nor directors. HBO’s idea is that the prequel has a cinematographic component. While there doesn’t seem to be a concrete plan, the plan may be to make a movie (perhaps as a pilot) and then expand it into a series format.
All this if it finally comes out. Let’s remember that Warner and HBO are being extremely careful when it comes to expanding ‘Game of Thrones’. Let’s remember that of the range of spin-offs that they managed at the time, we have only seen the one starring Emilia Clarke materialize so far. Others, like the one with Naomi Watts, were canceled in the pilot phase.
