Since not everything this week is going to be DC news and its adaptations, it’s time to talk about a project that, to be honest, makes me quite excited to see it carried out. Amazon Prime Video is preparing a series based on ‘Criminal‘, the excellent comic by Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips.
Created in 2006 for Marvel’s Icon label (now published by Image, Panini in Spain), the comic is practically an anthology in which each arc follows a different protagonist. Inside the Center City criminal networkwhere several generations of criminals come together who live with ghosts from the past and a common history.

One of these ghosts from the past is Teeg Lawless, whose murder becomes central throughout the saga. Something that would be explored in one of the last sagas. In Brubaker’s own words:
“Criminal tells the intertwined saga of several generations of families united by the crimes and murders of the past. One of the great events in many of the pasts of these characters, which has been referenced since the very first Crimina story, was the death of Teeg Lawless. Before we even met Teeg, we knew he died when his daughter was a teenager, but other than the identity of his killer, we never told the rest of the story. He’s been a haunting ghost on the show, making Teeg Lawless one of the most popular comic book characters.”
At the moment, as reported by Deadline, there are not many details about this series. We do know that Brubaker himself is in charge as writer, executive producer and showrunner. It’s not his first TV credit, as he’s worked on ‘Westworld’ and co-created Nicolas Winding Refn’s ‘Too Old to Die Young’.
