the mexican comedian Gaspar Henainebetter known as capulina and who died in 2011, spent a large part of his professional life in Mexico City, however, he found in the city of Cuernavaca, located an hour away from the capital of the country, his favorite place to have his houses of rest, of which only a few are still standing.
According to Oliver Henaine, his grandson, three of the properties that the famous actor had in what is known as the City of Spring still exist, while the rest have already been reduced to rubble.
Among those residences is the one that he bought from ex-boxer Mohamed Ali and that is located on a corner.
That house, which we already talked about here, was sold by the man born in Kentucky without even living in it, because he thought he had invested in a city similar to Acapulco, but he was tremendously disappointed.
The boxing champion’s disappointment was taken advantage of by Capulina, who launched an offer and took it over to make it his family’s home for several years.
“They offered it to us in a quantity, but the cost was very high. So my dad tells the broker: ‘I offer’ and he tells him half. So my mom says: ‘For the way the house is, I’ll offer half’ of what my dad said. In other words, we were talking about a quarter of the cost of the house.”
In addition to that property, the Henaines also had another that they were forced to part with to pay for an operation to which the great comedian was subjected, as one of his sons recalled.
“We had this house at a time that was sad because my dad had an operation and he had the great hope of coming here to recover. They operate on him, he leaves the operation and tells my mother: ‘Now yes, I want to go to Cuernavaca to enjoy and recover from the operation.’ And my mom tells him: ‘I had to sell the house to pay for the operation,’” his son said.
This house, which is distributed over two floors and is located next to a gas station, draws attention for its stone wall, its gate and white ironwork, as well as its fruit trees and its pool.
The third house, which is the simplest of all and is located in the Palmira area, is in a kind of horizontal condominium, which attracts attention due to the structure of its houses, which are not rectangular, but round and of very few square feet.
“They were very cheap and small houses. Hot, but terrifying. What’s more, the house was so small that the bed didn’t fit, they had to cut the beds. The first house was small, hot, it looked like a water tank. My dad painted the roof silver so the sun would bounce off it. We didn’t fit. He bought the house next door and we spent it there between one house and another house. It was tremendously hot, ”said his son, who with this last visit demonstrated Capulina’s simplicity.
