Almost three years after the events, the Attorney General of the State of Michoacán, in Mexico, obtained a sentence of 50 years in prison against Diego Urik, material and intellectual murderer of Jessica González Villaseñor. The crime was committed on September 21, 2020 and shocked the entire country due to the way it was perpetrated.
Judge Ariel Montoya Romero said that he found sufficient elements to give Urik the maximum sentence contemplated by the Michoacán Penal Code, according to article 120.
The judge pointed out that there was fraud, viciousness, cruelty and no repentance on the part of Urik, who committed the femicide against Jessica, a young teacher who her students continue to miss.
Jessica’s body was found with multiple blows and signs of sexual violence in the luxurious subdivision where Urik lived, who, after his atrocious conduct, fled to the state of Jalisco, where he was detained by the authorities.
Since then, a long judicial process began that included dozens of hearings, the presentation of more than 100 pieces of evidence and multiple witnesses, including Urik’s former friends, who testified against him.
In addition to 50 years in prison, Urik must pay 1,246,000 pesos, more than 67,000 dollars, for damage repair. This amount was determined based on the salary that Jessica received as a teacher.
