Eating healthy meals is important if we are trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle. But for those who live busy lives and juggle too much, preparing a nutritious and balanced meal is easier said than done. For those who don’t have time to spend hours making dinner, there are some seasonings that can help.
If we want to eat healthy and don’t have time to prepare homemade dishes every night, these sauces help us turn boring basic dishes into beautiful ones.
greek yogurt
Do you think Greek yogurt is only for breakfast? You’re wrong! Greek yogurt can give a satisfying touch to a lot of simple dishes, and it adds a boost of live cultures that can also improve the gut health of the food.
Using plain Greek yogurt and adding it to baked potatoes, pancake batter, and even coleslaw recipes can add a unique flavor with a little extra nutrition.
pesto sauce
Jarred pesto is traditionally used as a sauce, but this basil-based sauce is so much more than a pasta dressing – it can be used for so many dishes!
We can use jarred pesto as a marinade for chicken, as a seasoning for vegetable and cheese sandwiches, and as a dip for hearty cheesy bread. Although it is true that there is nothing like a homemade pesto, relying on one from a jar and made with quality ingredients is a good second option.
Garlic infused mayonnaise (alioli)
We know that adding mayonnaise to dishes is nothing new. However, having a garlic mayonnaise can make the regular chicken salad, sandwich or burger delicious. To make this seasoning, we can simply mix some finely chopped garlic, a touch of lemon juice, and some mayonnaise.
We can also take a store-bought version of aioli for an easy seasoning that requires no preparation.
peanut butter
It doesn’t matter if we make it or buy a jarred version, a peanut butter dip can be used for so much more than just that. A delicious peanut sauce can be added to cooked or raw vegetables for a side dish, layered with chicken for a peanut protein dish, and even used with pasta for a nutty side dish.
We may have to add a little water or oil to “cut” the sauce if it is too thick. However, using this sauce should lend itself to a simple dish that requires very little effort to make.
Dark chocolate tahini paste
Many of us are familiar with chocolate hazelnut spreads that taste great, but don’t offer much in the way of nutrition. Making a dark chocolate tahini spread to replace the classic hazelnut spread can make dishes just as enjoyable to eat, but with a few healthy fats and far less sugar.
For a quick and easy dessert, simply spread some chocolate spread over fresh fruit for an antioxidant-packed treat.
