Superhero movies have been dominating Hollywood for years, largely due to the great popularity of Marvel movies and, to a lesser extent, those of DC, with the particularity that Batman Day is celebrated today. However, it would be a mistake to reduce everything to these two universes, so today I propose 4 of the best superhero movies that are not from Marvel or DC that you can see on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney + and HBO Max.
In case you are looking a wider selection regardless of its origin, Do not hesitate to take a look at this review of the best superhero movies of the past decade. And if you are looking for a series, here you will find the best superheroes available in streaming.
I would also like to remind you of our lists of the best Netflix movies of 2022, the best cinema on Disney+ this year or the movies you can’t miss in 2022 on Amazon Prime Video. Having said that, Let’s go with today’s chosen ones:
‘Rise of the Guardians’ (‘Rise of the Guardians’, 2012)

Address: Peter Ramsay. Cast (vocals): Chris Pine, Alec Baldwin, Jude Law, Isla Fisher and Hugh Jackman
It would have been very easy to go to ‘Samaritan’, one of the last great releases of Amazon, but any opportunity is good to vindicate this film. It is very easy to sell it as a kind of ‘The Avengers’ but with creatures from the children’s imagination such as Santa Claus or Jack Frost, but reducing it to that would be a mistake, since it knows how to mix that magical touch of the characters that it uses as its own narrative elements. of the great Hollywood productions to give us very good entertainment that at the time did not have all the recognition it deserves.

‘The protected’ (‘Unbreakable’, 2000)
Address: M. Night Shyamalan. Distribution: Bruce Willis, Samuel L. Jackson, Robin Wright, Spencer Treat Clark, Eamonn Walker, Charlayne Woodard, Leslie Stefanson, Johnny Hiram Jamison, M. Night Shyamalan, Julia Yorks, James Handy, Davis Duffield
Disney is associated with Marvel, but the truth is that this studio has two superhero movies superior to anyone who has given us that universe. It’s been hard to write off ‘The Incredibles’, but ‘Unprotected’ is the best thing he’s done so far. M.Night Shyamalan to date, demonstrating a great knowledge of the world of comics and how to reflect it in images, also having great performances by both Bruce Willis and Samuel L Jackson.

Hancock (2008)

Address: Peterberg. Distribution: Will Smith, Charlize Theron, Jason Bateman, Eddie Marsan, Jae Head, David Mattey, Maetrix Fitten, Thomas Lennon, Johnny Galecki, Michael Mann, Hayley Marie Norman, Akiva Goldsman, Brad Leland
Many movies have one or several sequels without deserving it and very few that should have it are left without it. This is one such example, as a different and challenging superhero universe of its own was created here, clearly leaving the door open for more adventures. It is true that the transition between the most comic approach of the first minutes (Will Smith it’s great when Hancock is more overwhelmed) to the dramatic overload of the last act is not exemplary, but still left you wanting more.

‘Hellboy’ (2004)

Address: Guillermo del Toro. Distribution: Ron Perlman, Selma Blair, Rupert Evans, John Hurt, Doug Jones, Jeffrey Tambor, Karel Roden, Ladislav Beran, Corey Johnson, Biddy Hodson, Kevin Trainor, Brian Caspe, James Babson, Brian Steele
The famous character created by Mike Mignolaprobably the most popular superhero in history with no ties to Marvel or DC, made the leap to the big screen with this stupendous adaptation signed by William of the Bull who knows how to be faithful to the original comic but also offer an accessible proposal to reach a larger audience. His cast is another great success, especially an unbeatable Ron Perlman as Hellboy.
