Nature photos are always impressive and in a certain way hypnotize us because they show us in an intimate way things that we are not used to seeing on a daily basis.
This year the eighth mangrove photography contest was held, which not only seeks to find the best image, but its purpose goes much further and is focused on nature conservation.
Currently only half of the original mangrove territory remains in the world. These ecosystems play an important role in the preservation of biodiversity as they are home to thousands of species of both aquatic, terrestrial and flying plants and animals. In addition, they function as a natural barrier against natural disasters coming from the ocean.
That is why the contest has the purpose of showing the wonders of the mangroves through the photographs of participants interested in the cause. Likewise, these beautiful images seek to highlight the importance of conserving these ecosystems.
The photos reveal amazing details of life in mangroves while serving as a reminder of their importance to the diversity of life on shorelines around the world. In their eighth year, the Mangrove Photography Awards 2022 «they have become a platform to intrigue people about the magnificent ecological role that mangroves play in our lives”Judge Dhritiman Mukherjee mentioned.
This time more than two thousand images caught around 68 countries they participated in the contest; in six different categories: wildlife, humans, landscape, conservation, underwater and stories. The international panel of judges was made up of professionals in the field of wildlife conservation: Beverly Joubert, Dhritiman Mukherjee, Octavio Aburto, Bertie Gregory, and Nadia Aly.
We want to show you the winners and some finalists in the different categories. We hope that in the end you not only think you saw beautiful images but that from now on you will remember the importance of mangroves.
