More than once, when finishing a book, all of us reading girls thought about how great it would be to see the story on the screen. Of course, as long as all the important points of the literary work are respected.
If it hasn’t happened to them, several of us have. That is why on this occasion we consider it important to share those books that we would be fascinated to have an adaptation as a television series or in a big screen production.
1. 1984 by George Orwell
Well, this work does have its adaptation in the cinema, but we consider that making a version at this time would leave us in shock. Also, it would make us question many things about our society.
2. throne of glass by Sarah J. Maas
This novel set in medieval times is full of incredible plot twists, princes, demons, ghosts, commanders, fairies, witches, betrayals and heartbreaking deaths. So we think it would be a series that would catch anyone.
3. The selection by Kiera Cass
In this story it is possible to delve much deeper into the society divided by castes and ruled by a tyrant king who hides political and social problems with a kind of reality show to choose the crown prince’s wife. We would not miss a single chapter. TRUE?
4. Wrong place, wrong time by Gillian McAllister
Time travel and suspense are the perfect ingredients to make a successful series. What makes it different from this novel is that the person who travels through time is not a handsome boy or a curious girl, it is a mother who is trying to discover why her son committed a murder and thus prevent it.
5. I’m Glad My Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy
We must say that this controversial book has a lot of potential for a biopic or documentary, since it must be admitted that it has a literary aesthetic that is rarely seen in biographies.
Also, if Jennette did such a good job as a writer, there is no doubt that as a screenwriter for a film or documentary based on her book, we will not be disappointed.
6. A court of thorns and roses by Sarah J. Maas
It is true that this novel is based on the tale of Beauty and the Beast, but in a fairy universe, with horrible villains and full of surprises.
Also, the characters have a lot of potential to conquer any audience, considering that everything revolves around the theme of kingdoms, magic and epic battles.
7. Aztec by Gary Jennings
We would be fascinated to see stories set in the Aztec Empire. A series set in this era without falling into the prejudices that other productions have shown doesn’t sound bad at all, right?
And it is that if there are films of Nordic, Egyptian, Greek and Roman gods, what prevents there being one about Huitzilopochtli?
8. Crying in a H Mart by Michelle Zauner
This book makes anyone cry and, obviously, I would do the same if it were adapted into a movie or series, because this autobiography captures and makes you feel a lump in the throat with its identity crises and its perspectives on life. Maybe it would be a tape that we could enjoy at least once a year.
9. Arabian Nights
Well, we went to the classics of literature, and although movies have already been made based on some of the stories in this book, the truth is that there are so many passages that a well-made series would not be bad at all.
In principle, knowing who Scheherazada was and where The Thousand and One Nights come from to get out of the classic tales that we know from this compilation.
10. one hundred years of solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez
It is true that, for a long time, Netflix announced the launch of the adaptation of this magical story on the small screen, but we cannot leave it aside because for many years we have been hallucinating with knowing Macondo and knowing more clearly the wide family tree of the Buendía family.
eleven. the guest by Amparo Davila
Now it’s time to talk about one of the best Mexican writers who gave us mystery, terror and the sinister in her lyrics.
This work brings together different tales of the woman from Zacatecas that could give us an excellent episode of a series that we would definitely see in the spooky season.
12. paris was a party by Ernest Hemingway
This beautiful book contains the most charming stories of the author, who links them by telling a story that would be one of the best made into a series or movie.
It is true that, at the time, the tape Midnight in Paris Woody Allen’s had a certain closeness to the novel, but it does not evoke as such all the passages that Ernest gives us in his work.
13. The Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri
Imagine seeing the landscapes of hell and all the beings that inhabit each circle on the screen. Many years ago, movies were made based on this literary classic, but with the technology we have now, representing it would not be so difficult. Of course, the script would be the main challenge.
14. Dreams of the mountain girl by Eufrosina Cruz Mendoza
Another more contemporary Mexican writer tells us the story of stubbornness and rebellion of a girl who at the age of 12 decided to change her destiny in the process of helping thousands of Mexican women.
Regarding the fact that on platforms like Netflix, we have seen tapes like Noise, that are inspired by current circumstances of our country. It doesn’t hurt to think that making a movie about this story could open our eyes to a context that we often don’t know.
fifteen. Hopscotch by Julio Cortazar
Maybe adapting it into a series or movie would be quite a challenge due to its structure, but ultimately, a genius could take it into action and we would be happy.
About this year Hopscotch celebrates 60 years of its first publication, it would not be bad if some great filmmaker or producer gave us a tour of the streets that La Maga travels in Paris, France.
