‘Naruto’ continues to be unstoppable no matter how many years go by, and that recently the 20th anniversary of the premiere of its anime has been celebrated. Right now we still have very alive the history of the ninjas of konoha thanks to ‘Boruto: Naruto Next Generations’, but as hard as they try Naruto’s shadow is still very, very long.
naruto is one of the most beloved protagonists of the last decades and rubs shoulders with giants like Goku and Luffy without problem. And with the amount of time that we have been with him, it is possible that we even know his ID … but in case we miss any, here are several curiosities about Naruto Uzumaki which perhaps we did not have so fresh.
share birthday
In many manga and anime series, the birthdays of the characters are not thought haphazardly and usually have some kind of meaning.
Naruto’s is the October 10thand the curious thing is that he shares it with two other characters: Menma Uzumaki and Menma Namikaze. The three characters are very similar physically and they are also more or less the “Narutos” of their respective universes in alternate stories, so it makes sense that they share birthdays.
In case you need a transfusion
One of the most curious and handy data that we usually have about anime characters for some reason is their blood type. And if a transfusion is needed, la from Naruto is type B.
According to some beliefs, people with type B blood tend to be irresponsible, impatient and selfish, but also friendly, creative and very passionate… All adjectives that fit Naruto quite well throughout the series, for better or for worse.
I could eat it every day
Naruto’s name comes from naturomaki, a type of white fish paste with a pink spiral used as a topping for ramen. Beyond the name and the importance of the spirals in history, Ramen is one of Naruto’s favorite foods.
He is a regular customer of Konoha’s Ichiraku Ramen, mainly because his owners always treated him very well unlike the rest of the town…
It’s small, you have to take care of it
Like many other anime protagonists, Naruto is not excessively tall. But hey, unlike what happens to Edward Elric, he doesn’t seem to care nor does he get pricked too much with the subject.
Even so, yes, it has been hitting some growth spurts during the series, which makes sense because he is barely twelve years old when the anime starts. In the first part, Naruto was between 145.3 and 147.5 cm, being the shortest of his team. For ‘Naruto Shippuden’ he had a small growth spurt and was around 166 cm, and as an adult in ‘Boruto’ he has managed to reach 180 cm in height.
shippeos different
Although Naruto ended up marrying Hinata. and starting a family together (which later gave us a full sequel series), Naruto was originally at a loss for Sakura.
Apart from the fan wars to see who would end up with whom, Kishimoto’s wife was also surprised to see that Naruto ended up with Hinata, since she always thought that her final partner would be Sakura.
the color of the family
It is also not random that Naruto wears orange and calls himself the “Orange Hokage”.. Knowing what his clothes look like, it seems like it’s a reference to his “usual uniform”, but it’s actually a reference to his family.
His mother Kushina had very bright red hair, while his father Minato was blonde. So from the sum of red and yellow, we are left with Naruto’s orange.
It was going to be very different
Before starting the serialization of the manga, Kishimoto published a self-contained story of ‘Naruto’ where we could already see some very similar elements… but where there were also many differences.
One of them was Naruto’s powers, since could transform into a giant fox because her father was a fox demon.
goodbye to glasses
Some of the things she kept from this first version of the manga were her orange jumpsuit and also the protective glasses he wore on his head. Although the latter did not last long.
Once Naruto became genin, he started wearing his famous bandana instead of glasses because he wanted to show it off. The reason why Kishimoto ended up abandoning them was more practical: he took too long to draw them.
His cameito in ‘One Piece’
Crossovers between manganime series are quite common, and ‘One Piece’ has had the odd one. In fact, and To celebrate the ‘Naruto’ manga coming to an end, Eiichiro Oda decided to include a small tribute in ‘One Piece’ chapter 766.
In one cartoon we can see Luffy very comfortable eating ramen, and Nami can be seen with the Konohagakure symbol on her clothes. Luffy shares a table with someone, and although you can’t see his face, you can assume it’s Naruto because of his clothes and his shoes.
We almost have two Narutos
Speaking of ‘One Piece’, Naruto ended up stealing the name of one of the Straw Hats. It’s very hard to imagine Sanji going by any other name (especially after learning more about his family), but he was originally going to be called “Naruto” because of the whorls on his eyebrows.
The publication of ‘Naruto’ in Shonen Jump magazine was going to start before Sanji was introduced in ‘One Piece’, and in order not to mess things up, Oda decided to change his name. If Oda had finally decided to go ahead with his original plans, Kishimoto would have possibly changed his ninja protagonist’s name to another ramen-related food, such as Menma.
